This is where, for a long time, there has been very little to choose from within Christian music.

A Personal Journey

When the first steps into radio were taken in 1994, it was through a gospel program. It was also the first real introduction to what we now call CCM—Contemporary Christian Music.

But to be honest, it was disappointing.

For someone used to the quality, creativity, and diversity of mainstream music and radio, Christian music at the time felt like a significant step back. While mainstream music was innovative and strong in production, Christian music often stayed within a limited and safe framework.

With artists like Genesis and Phil Collins as personal favorites, and a strong love for house and Eurodance, the contrast was clear. It didn’t take long before returning to mainstream music—and even producing radio shows with that style—simply because there was no real alternative.

Even after becoming a Christian, that tension remained. Until the moment came when the focus shifted from just the sound to the message. That was the turning point—realizing that continuing to listen to mainstream music was no longer an option.

CCM: Valuable, but Not Complete

Over the years, much has improved. The quality of Christian music today is often on par with mainstream production.

And yet, something is still missing.

Most Christian radio stations continue to operate within a narrow framework: primarily CCM. A safe middle ground, with little variation. Not because of the message—but because of the style.

And that creates a gap.

A growing group of listeners—especially younger generations—do not connect with that limited musical landscape. Not because they reject faith, but because the form does not speak their language. As a result, many return to mainstream music, where the style and energy are present, but the message is not.

CHR: The Language of Today

In contrast, CHR—Contemporary Hit Radio—is the format used by leading stations worldwide.

It is built around what is current, relevant, and engaging. It is defined by energy, clarity, and impact. It is not limited to one genre, but focused on what connects.

CHR speaks the language of today’s listener.

And that language has largely been absent from Christian radio.

Revival FM: Filling the Gap

With the launch of Revival FM, that gap is being addressed.

Revival FM is a CHR station with a clear Christian foundation. This means it is not limited to a single musical style, but embraces a wide range of contemporary sounds—from pop to EDM and beyond.

CCM still has its place, but it is no longer the only expression. It is complemented by other styles that carry the same level of quality and energy as mainstream music, while remaining grounded in a Christian message.

Between the music, short and powerful messages are heard. Not long sermons, but focused words that challenge, invite, and call people into relationship with Jesus—and when needed, call them back to Him.
