Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is to stop. Stop pulling, pushing, controlling, explaining, and saving what God has not given you to carry. “Be still” is not an invitation to passivity, but to surrender. God is not saying that the struggle is not real. He is saying that He is God. But this grates on us, because we like to keep a hand on the wheel. The question is simple and sharp: Do you trust Him enough to let go, or do you primarily trust yourself as long as you can still arrange something?
